Pure Souls and Dreams

June is around the corner. Walking along the campus, I came across a flea market during graduation. A year ago, I spared no pains for the sake of entering an ideal university. College Entrance Examination, to some extent, used to be some kind of creed for a majority of Chinese students.

For a long time, we are taught the school we entered shaped the way we are. It is this exam that determines whether we wear blue overalls or high heels in the future, determining whether we get on the crowded bus or drive through crowds in a shiny sedan in the morning, determining whether we live in an old building or in a villa...... All the splendor of our life was destined to depend on it.

Being immersed in heaped-up homework, loads of English words, and mountains of math problems, in addition to sleepy, I encountered ups and downs in almost all subjects on many occasions. However, being put in a place to study as hard as we can, despite pressure, we brought out the best of us as well. Not only did it help us to make of the lumber of our life, we are also liberated from our own fear.

If you didn't go what you have gone through, you wouldn't be who you are today. said Nick Vujicie, an Australian orator. All these things remind me of the novel The Count of Monte Cristo, which is written by the famous French writer Alexander Dumas.

In the story, Edmond Dantes was a promising man who sailed back and was ready to marry his beloved girl called Mercedes. However, fortune is fickle. He was framed and put in prison by Danglars and Fernand who was jealous of his achievement and gains. While Fernand also fell in love with Mercedes deeply. In the 14 years of darkness in prison, he became a man with great intelligence and gained great treasure which was buried on the island of Monte Cristo. Then, Nantes changed his name into the Count of Monte Cristo and began to show his gratitude as well as taking his vengeance.

Every single person on the planet has a story. Sometimes we were beaten up, but the work made me realize that as long as there is a belief and a pursuit, can you be capable of suffering and adapting. No rain, no rainbow. Two words summed up the book--wait and hope. Life is a gift for us and we are not supposed to waste it.  You never know what hand you're going to get dealt next. You learn to take life as it comes to you. Putting our fears aside, we have pure souls and dreams which we should be proud of.
