On the afternoon of May18th, the 2nd SouthLake Forum for Young Talents—School ofForeign Languages parallel session was held at the Zelin academiclecture hall, the fourth floor of SCUN library, which invited 3 scholars. Theforum was attended by leaders of the School of Foreign Languages, members ofthe Academic Committee, directors of the teaching and research office forEnglish, translation and minor languages, and teacher and studentrepresentatives. The parallel session was presided over by Deng Zhiyu, vicedean of the School of Foreign Languages.

Zhang Liyu, deputy secretary of the SchoolParty Committee and dean of the School of Foreign Languages, delivered a speech on behalfof the School of Foreign Languages. She expressed warmly welcome to the threescholars and introduced the construction, development and history of SCUN andthe School of Foreign Languages, the teaching achievements and currentdevelopment of the School of Foreign Languages. Then young faculty of theSchool of Foreign Languages Ph.D.Wang Haiyan, Ph.D.Weng Yiming, overseasscholar Ph.D Jiang Wangmeng, Ph.D. Xia Chengyun, Ph.D Luo Wenyan respectivelyshared their research fields and the latest research findings.

On the sidelines of the forum, reporters of the School of Foreign Languagesinterviewed the 3 attending scholars on some questions such as what students ofthe School of ForeignLanguages should pay attention to in study and employment, the feelings towardsthe forum, and suggestions and advice on School and discipline construction. Onwhat students of the School of ForeignLanguages should pay attention to in study and employment, Ph.D. Jiang Wangmengsaid: “ your motivation comes from that what you do is what you are trulyinterested in. Ph.D Xia Yunbo suggested: “ Language is a tool of communication.We should study its culture by learning a language. On the Construction of the School of ForeignLanguages and discipline, Ph.D. Luo Wenyan said: “Practice is important fortranslation. As a young discipline, translation involves cognitive psychologyand communication. Therefore, we can learn from other disciplines and domulti-discipline studies. ”

The 2nd South Lake Forum for YoungTalents—the SchoolofForeign Languages Parallel Session provideprovided a platform for young scholars at home and abroad to show theirscientific research prowess, boosted communication, witnessed their rigorouslearning attitude.
