The Symposium on the Introduction of 2+2?Bachelor?Double?Degree?Education Project at University of Wisconsin - La Crosse and the Creative Writing Plus

Onthe evening of 30 May, the School of Foreign Language hosted the lecture at RunLiang lecture hall of Academic Exchange Centre, where Professor Matthew Cashionfrom University of Wisconsin and Dr. Haixia Lan respectively gave a shortspeech on creative writing and rhetorical style of writing

Atthe beginning of the lecture, the students had already grasped a basicinformation on the project of2+2?Bachelor Double?Degree?Education Project at University of Wisconsin- La Crosse through a short video, which was collectively shot by the studentsjoining in this project. In order to give a intuitive description to theUniversity of Wisconsin, the 2+2?Bachelor?Double?Degree?Education Project andthe study life abroad, in the video Wang Ningyuan and Cao Yingning, thestudents of foreign language school, who are joining in the “2+2” projectspecifically talked about their feeling of oversea study. After that, ProfessorMatthew Cashion has shared the different kinds of original writing intentionsof the students in the creative writing course, some of them are poetic, whilethe others are fulled of philosophical thinking, which greatly touched andinspired the audience. In regard to Professor Cashion’s sharing, the audiencealso expressed their views actively. On the other hand, through the way of examplification,Dr. Haixia Lan has taught students how to make comparison and analysis inwriting, and made students get to know the differences, moreover, the advantagesand disadvantages of different expressions in writing rhetoric. After thesharing of the two teachers, the students showed that they were more interestedin English writing than even, and they have also mastered some skills ofwriting, which are of great benefit to them.
