OnAugust. 8th, 2019, the final round results of the Fourth NationalUniversity cryptographic mathematics challenge competition wereannounced. Under the guidance of our teacher Jia Xiaoying, the Ai Geteam composed by students from Informationand Computing Science major, including Hu Changjing, Zhang Ying and Ni Jun,performed well and won the third prize.

The National University CryptographicMathematics Challenge Competition is guided by the Higher Education Departmentof the Ministry of Education, the Network Security Coordination Bureau of the CentralNetwork Office, the Department of Personnel and Education of the Ministry of Industryand Information Technology and co-sponsored by the Mathematics TeachingSteering Committee of the Ministry of Education and Topsec Group. Thetheme of the competition is demonstrating the charm of mathematics andexploring network security talents. It aims to find out and train youngtalents with special talents in this field to meet the needs of nationaldevelopment and promote and promote the reform of teaching content andpersonnel training mode of Applied Mathematics and interdisciplinary courses inuniversities.

This competition was hosted by Yantai University. Since itslaunch on the January of 2019, it has attracted a large number of undergraduateand master degree and doctoral students from more than 70 universities in sixnational competition divisions. Thecontest topic is based on the open mathematical problem widely used in currentcryptography field. The question--small integer solution based onlattice chosen by “Ai Ge Team” is one of the important theoreticalfoundations of post quantum cryptography. It has high requirements forstudents' mathematical theory, knowledge of frontier knowledge and practicalabilities. Under the guidance of the instructor, three students in ourcollege stood out from the 253 teams in the preliminary round, successfullyentered the final round and finally won the third prize. Ai Geteam is also the youngest team with the lowest average age and the only teamcomposed of all undergraduates in the sub-group.

Through this competition, participants havebeen trained and developed in many aspects, such as knowledge structure, professional quality, field of vision and practical ability, which helps strengthenstudents' innovative consciousness and enhance their ability to analyze andsolve problems.
